HOW TO APPLY THE PRODUCT
All applications are to be carried out at a military facility or in a well ventilated environment. This product should only be used after instruction from medical personnel. Do not apply to skin. Do not treat clothing that is being worn. DO NOT TREAT HEAD GEAR OR UNDERGARMENTS.
Uniforms/mosquito nets treated with Mosquito ShieldTM Arthropod Repellent Clothing & Mosquito Netting Treatment (0.5% Permethrin) must not be treated with any other insect repellent clothing treatments.
FOR PROTECTION FROM MOSQUITOES AND TO PREVENT TICK ATTACHMENT select an outdoor area protected from the wind and set out clothing. Hold can at a distance of 15 to 20 cm from the item to be treated, and spray outer surfaces of clothing with a slow sweeping motion to lightly moisten the surface of the fabric (i.e., enough to cause a slight colour change). Treat the entire surface of the clothing and allow items to dry for at least 2 hours (clothing will take longer to dry under humid conditions) before wearing the treated clothing. As a general rule, approximately 130 g (115 mL) of product will treat one complete set of combat clothing (i.e., long-sleeve shirt, pants and socks).
TREATMENT OF MOSQUITO NETTING IS AS FOR CLOTHING. Set out netting (DO NOT TREAT NETTING THAT IS IN USE) and apply spray with a slow sweeping motion until netting is wetted. Treat the entire surface of the netting. Reapply to outer clothing after every sixth laundering. Reapply to mosquito netting after 1 month.
To achieve maximum protection against mosquito and ticks, Mosquito Shield Arthropod Repellent Clothing & Mosquito Netting Treatment (0.5% PERMETHRIN) needs to be used with other insect control measures, for example with a topical repellent applied to exposed skin areas.
